Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS2), the much-awaited sequel to the highest-grossing film ever, is reaching the culmination of its box-office run-in Tamil Nadu. With a staggering collection of approximately Rs. 140 crores, the film secures the seventh position among the state’s all-time highest grossers. However, despite these remarkable numbers, the film’s performance at the box office has received a comparatively subdued response.
Industry expectations for PS2 were sky-high, considering its status as a sequel to the monumental success of PS1, which amassed a colossal Rs. 222 crores. While surpassing PS1’s record was undoubtedly a challenging task, it was anticipated that PS2 would at least surpass Vikram, the film ranking second with Rs. 40 crores less than the top spot. Unfortunately, PS2 falls short once again, ending up Rs. 40 crores below Vikram’s impressive earnings. Also Read: Zeenat Aman Shares Her Dream Roles from Anarkali to Miranda Priestly and Moira Rose
