Taali, helmed by the renowned filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, will see Sushmita Sen essay the role of transgender activist Gauri Sawant. She said, “It is my hope, the kind of honesty with which I have done that story, and tried to portray the life of Gauri, that the honesty comes through, because it is a tribute, more than a performance, it is my tribute to her and the entire community, so I have my fingers crossed. I have done a lot of hard work and the entire team has put in their hard work as well.”

Gauri Sawant, formerly known as Ganesh Sawant, is the founder of the Sakhi Char Chaughi Trust, an organization dedicated to promoting safe sex and providing counseling to transgender individuals in Mumbai. Through Taali, Sushmita Sen aims to shed light on Gauri Sawant’s remarkable work and the struggles faced by the transgender community, honoring their resilience and spirit.

Sushmita Sen, adored by fans since her modeling and pageantry days, has formed a special bond with her audience over the years. Speaking about this unique connection, the actress said, “I think ever since my childhood, there has been only one reason behind me being famous, that I wanted to reach people’s hearts, I wanted to form a relationship with the audience, the ones that they have with their family members, I wanted to have that kind of relationship with the entire country, and I never forgot that. Good times and bad times came and went, but I never forgot that.”
