Ranbir Kapoor’s first look from his upcoming film ‘Animal’ was unveiled on Sunday. The film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared the picture on his Twitter handle.
He wrote in the caption: “Presenting the first look at the animal. Happy New Year, people”. The picture shows Ranbir in a beefed-up avatar holding an ax while lighting a cigarette. The actor has long hair with thick stubble and bruises and a bloody wound that sticks out from the picture.
Sandeep is the one who remade the hit movie ‘Kabir Singh’ starring Shahid Kapoor from his own directorial ‘Arjun Reddy’. The director received a lot of flak even at the time of the Shahid Kapoor starrer for his views on violence against women.
Overt violence as a derived part of the film’s theme, title, and the first look at ‘Beast’ suggests that the director has not backed down from his views and is ready to serve up another film with a higher level of savagery.
‘Animal’ was earlier reported to have Parineeti Chopra playing the female lead, but she later walked out of the project and was replaced by Rashmika Mandana.
The film, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, was shot in Himachal Pradesh. The film will be released in theaters on August 11.
