“Marathi Film Fraternity Mourns the Loss of Veteran Actor Jayant Savarkar”

The Marathi and Hindi film fraternity mourns the loss of one of its esteemed members, veteran actor Jayant Savarkar, who breathed his last on Monday morning at a Thane hospital due to age-related issues. The 87-year-old actor’s funeral was held today at Gadkari Rangayatan in Thane, with numerous film personalities in attendance.

Jayant Savarkar, revered for his versatile performances and dedication to his craft, had been facing health-related challenges in recent times. The news of his passing has left a void in the hearts of his admirers and the film community at large.

Several renowned figures from the Marathi film industry, including Makarand Anaspure, Sanjay Narvekar, and Mangesh Desai, were present at the last rites of the veteran actor. While offering his condolences, actor Mangesh Desai shared his memories of the late actor, saying, “Last month I spoke to him; there was an advertisement, so I called Anna regarding the same, and he told me that he would only do it if there was something unique about it, otherwise, he won’t. That was the beauty of that man. He wouldn’t do anything just for money or time-pass. I am deeply saddened by his passing.”

Jayant Savarkar’s illustrious career in Marathi and Hindi cinema, theatre, and television spanned an impressive six decades. He enthralled audiences with memorable performances in movies such as “Yugpurush,” “Vaastav,” “Singham,” “Hari Om Vithala,” “Gadbad Gondhal,” “66 Sadashiv,” and many more.

As per media reports, the actor’s son, Kaustubh, revealed, “About 10-15 days ago, he was admitted to a hospital in Thane due to low blood pressure. On 23rd July, suddenly his health worsened, and he was put on a ventilator. He passed away at around 11 am due to age-related ailments.”

The legacy of Jayant Savarkar will forever remain in the hearts of those who have been touched by his talent and charisma. His dedication to his craft and principled approach to acting continue to inspire and influence the aspiring talents of the Marathi film industry.
