Choreographer extraordinaire Rajit Dev is setting the stage on fire with his latest music video “Mere Sanam Ke Khwaab.” Known for his impeccable dance moves and choreography in hit songs like “Yaar Ka Sataya Hua Hai” and “Psycho,” Rajit now takes on a multi-faceted role as producer, director, and choreographer for his maiden venture under RAJITDEV ENTERTAINMENT.
“Mere Sanam Ke Khwaab” features the talented choreographer Nishant Bhat and the charming Heli Daruwala in the lead roles. The music video boasts soulful vocals by talented artists Kavita Seth and her son Kanishk, combined with heartwarming lyrics that struck a chord with Rajit’s heart. Speaking about his decision to produce and direct this music video, Rajit says, “This song was special and close to my heart. I felt the beauty of the vocals and the soulful lyrics. I fell in love with the song instantly and felt I should start my production journey with this song.”
When it came to casting, Rajit knew he wanted to explore classical dance forms in the music video. He explains, “I wanted to showcase Kathak, which is one of my favorite dance forms. The song itself has a very classical vibe fused with Western music, and I felt Nishant was the perfect fit for this role. He is a brilliant dancer when it comes to Indian styles, and after Bigg Boss, he has become a household name. I’m so proud of him.”
Although Rajit himself has not formally trained in Kathak, he has a background in Bharatnatyam from his childhood. Always up for trying new things in his work, Rajit fused elements of Kathak to pay homage to Pandit Birju Maharaj’s exemplary contribution to the dance form. He humbly says, “This is my small attempt to dedicate a work of love to him.”
“Mere Sanam Ke Khwaab” has been received with overwhelming love from the audience, already surpassing 2.5 million views. Rajit expresses his happiness, saying, “I’m really glad that the song is growing on people and reaching the audience. The music video has been complimented for its feel-good storytelling, where viewers connect with the characters and their emotions throughout the 4 minutes of the song. I thank my talented actors Nishant and Heli for playing their parts wholeheartedly. Also, a big thanks to choreographer Kumar Sharma, the master in Kathak, who contributed to the fusion of classical dance in the music video.
