Actor and anchor Namitaa Sachdeva celebrated her birthday on August 14 with gratitude, cherished memories and a quiet reflection on the people closest to her. Currently appearing in the play Woh Subha Hum Hi Se Aayegi, the actor opened up about her birthday traditions, work commitments and the special place her parents hold in her life.
A Low-Key Birthday Celebration
Namitaa revealed that her birthday plans were relatively low-key this year after she fell unwell. While she usually makes elaborate plans for the occasion, her health prompted her to keep the celebrations simple.
“This year, I was not very well, so I haven’t really planned anything yet. Usually, every year I have a plan for my birthday, but this year it has been a little low-key,” she shared.
Despite the quieter celebration, Namitaa is looking forward to celebrating with her loved ones in the coming week.
Parties, Dancing and Time With Loved Ones
The actor said that birthdays are an opportunity to take a break from the everyday routine. Since her work keeps her busy, she enjoys marking the occasion by going out, dancing and spending time with friends.
“I really enjoy partying on my birthday because you spend every day at home, working, so after work, you should party, dance and just have a good time,” Namitaa said.
Although she enjoys dinners and outings with friends, the actor misses having her family around. She lives alone in Mumbai, while her sisters are based in Delhi. However, she believes that close friends can often become family.
“My friends are also like family sometimes,” she added.
Birthday Traditions and Spiritual Blessings
Namitaa follows several personal rituals on her birthday. Visiting a Gurudwara or temple, seeking blessings from her parents, spiritual guide and mentors, shopping for new clothes and dressing up are all part of her annual routine.
“I don’t like sitting dull on my birthday,” she said with a laugh.
For the actor, the day is not only about celebration but also about expressing gratitude and beginning another year with positivity.
Work Comes First
Even though birthdays are special to her, Namitaa does not mind working on the occasion. Describing herself as a “very workaholic person,” she said that work gives her a sense of productivity.
She also revealed that she shot on August 14 this year despite being unwell, proving that her professional commitments remain important even on her birthday.
A Gift Filled With Memories
When asked about memorable birthday gifts, Namitaa fondly recalled presents from her parents. She particularly remembers her mother gifting her a car several years ago, describing it as one of the most treasured gifts she has received.
However, the gift she would give herself today is not something materialistic. “I would gift myself a lot of smiles,” she said.
Namitaa believes that life will always bring both highs and lows, but a smile should remain constant through every phase.
For the actor, the most important part of any birthday is the love and blessings of her parents. “My birthday is incomplete without them,” she concluded.
