Renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta recently shared his heartfelt review of Kiran Rao’s directorial venture, “Laapataa Ladies,” after its release on Netflix on April 26, following its theatrical debut earlier. Mehta further elaborated on his experience, stating, “I went in expecting more and finished with more than it apparently delivers. It is old fashioned in a good way and modern in a very invisible manner. It is deceptively simple in its treatment and humour.”
The film, adapted from Biplab Goswami’s award-winning novel, features Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles. Set in rural India in 2001, the narrative revolves around two brides who accidentally get swapped during a train journey. The ensuing journey filled with unexpected twists and turns sets the stage for a captivating and humorous tale as their husbands embark on a quest to find the real bride.
