Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan, renowned for her versatility and acting prowess, is set to make her digital debut with the upcoming Netflix film ‘Jaane Jaan.’ At the trailer launch event for the film, Kareena Kapoor Khan, along with co-stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, and director Sujoy Ghosh, expressed her apprehension about this new venture, emphasizing that her anxiety for her digital debut surpasses the nervousness she felt during her initial film debut 23 years ago.

Speaking about her foray into the world of streaming with Netflix, Kareena Kapoor Khan said, “I am more nervous now than I was 23 years ago. Even as I watched the promo so closely, on a television screen, people will be watching me up close in their homes. I don’t know what it is, but I am obviously nervous. I do know one thing for sure: we have all worked incredibly hard on this film. Sujoy Ghosh has crafted a fantastic film. I believe in him. Sujoy and I have wanted to collaborate for over a decade, and it finally happened.”

‘Jaane Jaan’ is an adaptation of the 2005 bestselling novel “The Devotion of Suspect X” by Japanese author Higashino Keigo.

Reflecting on the journey of the film, from its inception to its release, and the privilege of working with two powerhouse actors, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma, Kareena shared, “While shooting for ‘Bhoot Police,’ my dear friends Jay and Akshai had an idea. It came up while we were shooting ‘Bhoot Police,’ and it just clicked. They suggested, ‘Why don’t we make the book into a film?’ At the time, I was pregnant with Jeh and was in Dharamshala. Everything fell into place. Jay informed me that we were making the film, Sujoy was excited about it, and we decided to make it for Netflix.”

“As we were finalizing the cast, I wanted to work with exceptional actors, individuals from whom I could learn and infuse freshness into the project. Jaideep’s name came up for the professor’s role, and Vijay’s name came up for his character. I didn’t hesitate for a moment; I knew this was it. I decided to work with both of them, to learn from them, and I can’t thank them enough for being so incredible. Watching them shoot, I would often forget my lines, which is something I’ve never experienced before because they are so natural,” added Kareena.

‘Jaane Jaan’ is set to start streaming on Netflix from September 21, 2023.
