“Pritam Reveals Karan Johar’s Nostalgic Vision for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”

Renowned music composer Pritam, who has crafted the entire soul-stirring album for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, reveals that the film’s director, Karan Johar, aspired to revisit the magic of classic romance through his musical compositions. Embracing the essence of old Indian melodies, Pritam’s compositions enrich the emotional landscape of the upcoming family drama.

Promoting their film at Spotify’s Music Concert, Pritam, along with actors Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and the melodious Sonu Nigam, shared insights into the inspiration and brief behind the film’s soulful music.

Pritam’s interaction with Newshelpline unveiled the vision Karan Johar had for the film’s music. “His brief was simple,” Pritam shared, “Karan Johar wanted to revisit old classic Indian music. His brief was LP’s 90’s genre, that sort of romance. The structuring of the songs changed, and each song comprises two ‘antaras’ (paragraphs). We decided to trim one out, resulting in songs that are about five to six minutes long. The entire movie is filled with nostalgia and emotions, with characters singing old songs, which we have beautifully incorporated in the background.”

Collaborating with the legendary Sonu Nigam, Pritam produced the fourth song of the film, set to be released soon. The composer shared a captivating anecdote about the song’s creation, stating, “Just 2-3 days prior to this event, I composed the song with Sonu Nigam. Although I had the song for some time, the moment it was confirmed that Sonu Nigam would be lending his voice, I felt compelled to create a fresh song with him. There’s always a little pressure when composing for someone as exceptional as Sonu.”

Pritam further elaborated on the creative process, revealing, “I kept prolonging the composition for 2-3 months, until the time came to release the song. When I finally saw all the songs come together, I realized they blended seamlessly with the film’s narrative. Only then did I reach out to Sonu Nigam, who was vacationing in Mauritius at the time.”

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a family drama of epic proportions, marks Karan Johar’s directorial endeavor. The film boasts an ensemble cast comprising veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, alongside the talented Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and others.
