Ayushmann Khurrana Expresses Desire to Join YRF Spy Universe After ‘Dream Girl 2’ Success

Ayushmann Khurrana, renowned for his versatility and remarkable acting prowess, is basking in the glory of his recent box office hit, ‘Dream Girl 2.’ The actor, who portrayed the character of Pooja, has garnered immense praise for his performance, and the film continues to make waves at the box office. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Ayushmann Khurrana shared his aspirations of returning to action-oriented roles after his stint as an ‘Action Hero.’ He also expressed his keenness to collaborate with Aditya Chopra, the head honcho of YRF, to venture into the captivating YRF spy universe. Ayushmann said, “I need to call Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) and I think we should do that. Let’s see!”

However, his ambition doesn’t stop at merely action sequences. Ayushmann Khurrana further revealed his desire to explore the darker side of characters within the YRF spy universe. He playfully added, “I would love to do that, and who knows, I might get to play a negative role in it—you never know. So that’ll be really exciting.”

This desire to delve into the world of espionage and action is fueled by Ayushmann’s genuine excitement to embrace such roles. Reflecting on his last release, ‘An Action Hero,’ he acknowledged the timing and circumstances can significantly impact a film’s success. He stated, “I am really excited to do action again, and probably if my last film was released in this environment, it would have done better, but it’s all about the timing and how things just land or come together. It’s multifactorial, the success of a film.”

‘Dream Girl 2,’ directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, is a sequel to the 2019 hit ‘Dream Girl.’ The movie features an ensemble cast, including Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Manjot Singh, Paresh Rawal, and Abhishek Banerjee. Since its release on August 25, the film has received a positive response from audiences and has grossed a remarkable Rs 117.5 crore worldwide at the box office within just 11 days, maintaining its strong performance.

Meanwhile, the YRF spy universe is gearing up to captivate audiences with its upcoming project, ‘Tiger 3.’ Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. Scheduled for a Diwali release, ‘Tiger 3’ will also witness the dynamic duo of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan reuniting for an action-packed sequence, promising an enthralling cinematic experience.
