While promoting the film at the Kala Ghoda Festival, the actor credited his success to the vision and guidance of filmmakers, emphasizing that “cinema is a director’s medium.”

“Laxman Utekar made me feel like ‘Chhaava’ from day one. He never called me Vicky—he always addressed me as ‘Raje.’ That small detail made me realize the weight of this role. It gave me confidence and a sense of responsibility to do justice to Sambhaji Maharaj’s story,” Vicky shared.
Filming ‘Chhaava’ and the Significance of Mumbai
Speaking about why Mumbai was chosen as the starting point for promotions, Vicky said, “Mumbai is the heart of Maratha culture. This film is deeply rooted in Marathi pride, and there was no better place to begin this journey.”

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is based on Shivaji Sawant’s novel ‘Chhava’, which chronicles the life and struggles of Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles.
