“Trailer for Biopic ‘800 – The Movie,’ Based on Muttiah Muralitharan’s Life, Released”

The highly anticipated trailer for ‘800 – The Movie,’ a biographical film based on the life of Sri Lankan cricketing legend Muttiah Muralitharan, has been unveiled. The movie is both written and directed by MS Sripathy, with acclaimed actor Madhurr Mittal, known for his role in the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ taking on the role of the legendary spinner.

The trailer provides viewers with a glimpse into the untold story of Muttiah Muralitharan’s life. It commences with flashbacks to events that transpired in Sri Lanka during the 1970s, a period marked by the targeting of the Tamil minority community, highlighting the challenges and hardships faced by this community during that era.

The trailer features scenes of a young man clad in a white cricket jersey kneeling before armed military personnel, accompanied by a voiceover stating, “For someone who hails from a group of migrant laborers, gaining recognition as a citizen itself is extremely tough.” The trailer concludes with the individual proudly declaring himself as a “cricketer.”

‘800 – The Movie’ is scheduled for release in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu languages on October 6, 2023.

Muttiah Muralitharan, a member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the sport. He holds the distinction of being the only bowler to have taken 800 Test wickets and 530+ ODI wickets. Muralitharan is also the highest wicket-taker in both Test and ODI formats and boasts an average of over six wickets per Test match.
