Actor Sidharth Malhotra attended new campaign of international clothing brand ‘Pepe Jeans’ as their first Indian brand ambassador on Wednesday in Mumbai. During media interaction, he talked about his association with his favorite clothing brand and his favorites when it comes to style and fashion.
Sharing his feeling on becoming first Indian face of ‘Pepe Jeans’, Sidharth said, “I think it’s very odd. For me, growing up in Delhi, seeing those hoardings and going into a clothing store, Pepe Jeans was such an aspirational brand for me at that time. I used to collect my pocket money & buy it and see only foreign faces on it. Today to be the first Indian face of it is definitely something I am proud of. It makes me very happy and emotional at the same time. I think it’s great as India should have their own face. It talks about how the country is also growing for a brand like Pepe Jeans.”
When asked about one bad habit which he overcame over the years, he said, “My mom used to complain as I hate letting of my denim and cleaning them. She used to find ways to steal my denim out my closet to wash them because I used to love wearing them in college every day but luckily I have improved, I wash clothes now every day and they smell nice I hope so that’s been changed, personal hygiene has been changed. Now luckily, I have more than just two jeans now. All thanks to Pepe Jeans so I wear one and wash the other ones and luckily I have a clean wardrobe”
When asked Sidharth which personality he follows when it comes to style and fashion, he said, “No.. First of all, I have a lovely team of stylists to make me look the way I do. I never tried to follow anybody else’s trend. It’s far more interesting if you make your style on your own as your own personality comes out of that. What you like might not be liked by other people, what looks good on you might not look good on others so I think it is something so individual in its space and it is very difficult to follow somebody but yeah that being said, Bollywood has been the main influence on me. I think Mr. Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan) or even Saif Ali Khan are my favorites in the film industry”
When asked if given a choice which character he would like to design or create for his film, Sidharth said, “I think what we haven’t seen in a while is to have our own Indian superhero. I don’t know what powers he will have if I create one but given a choice, I would create a nice, good desi character which lends itself to India and is for our desi audience so if there will be such superhero, then it will be great”
Recently, Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has announced that he is suffering from what he describes as a “rare disease” wishing him a speedy recovery, Sidharth said, “I will definitely make personal wishes to him. I am not exactly clear about details as we haven’t heard it from his own words or mouth but it is extremely sad and we all hoping he recovers as partly better time with whatever he is going through”
After the release of his last film ‘Aiyaary’, Sidharth next will be seen in his first biopic which is based on Kargil martyr Captain Vikram Batra. The actor’s other film, ‘Aashiqui 3’, is currently in the scripting stage. Sidharth will star opposite Alia Bhatt in it.
