The spread of Covid-19 has affected the entertainment industry worldwide. In the Hindi film industry, along with 83, release dates of two other major films – Sooryavanshi and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar – were postponed.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer 83 has been postponed due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. Ranveer took to Instagram to announce the same.
The actor wrote, “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!”
’83’ was set to hit theatres on April 10. The makers, however, have decided to shift the film’s release date after the novel coronavirus spread in the country.
The pandemic has also affected the box office collection of Irrfan’s Angrezi Medium and Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3.
83 is directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Phantom Films, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala. The film stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev, along with Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, and Sahil Khattar.
The story narrates Dev’s journey of life as well as how he became the captain of the India national cricket team and won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
Intially scheduled to be theatrically released on 10 April 2020, the release has been postponed due to corona virus pandemic.
