Emraan Hashmi gearing up for the release of ‘Why Cheat India’ says the film should be tax-free so that more people are aware of the education system issues.
Emraan Hashmi with co-star Shreya Dhanwanthary interacted with media at a promotional event for the film on Monday.
The markers of ‘Why Cheat India’ have been talking about requesting the government to issue the film Tax-Free, when asked about the same, Emraan said, “Of course, we want the film to be tax-free. When people saw the negative title they didn’t want to consider it for tax-free.
Agreed, the film had a negative title but what we are showing with it is also important. The film tries to tell everyone that cheating Mafia is an organized crime all over the country and we can’t avoid it at any cost. So I am hoping the Government watches the film and announces it taxfree so that more people get aware of these issues in the system.”
‘Why Cheat India’ will also mark Hashmi’s debut as a producer. The actor turned producer said, he wanted to venture into production for a long time and ‘Why Cheat India’ was the perfect script.
Talking about how the story is relevant for everyone and their intention of sharing it with the world, he said, “Why Cheat India’ is such a relevant story. You learn in school but there are so many things you end up learning on the job. We have a donkey work system, there are issues like nonqualified and disinterested teachers in college, not enough university seats, while kids in lakhs apply for admission.
I had some idea about cheating Mafia but I had no idea it was such an organized crime. It is a very big issue and I thought this is something the audience needs to see.”
Directed by Soumik Sen, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Emraan Hashmi
‘Why Cheat India’ is slated to release on 18th Jan 2019.
