Enjoy Scripts Which Requires Research – Apoorva Lakhia

Director Apoorva Lakhia along with actress Shraddha Kapoor released the official trailer of upcoming crime-thriller Haseena Parkar and talked about enjoying such genre as it requires “research”.
The first official trailer of “Haseena – The Queen of Mumbai” is out. The trailer is intense and talks about controversial life of Dawood Ibrahim and his sister Haseena, played by Sidhhant Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor respectively.
Apoorva Lakhia is noted for his crime-thriller genre and shares his reason for sticking with such dark theme oriented movies.
“I came to Mumbai in 2000 and the history of Mumbai is very intriguing. While growing up, I’d heard a lot about “by-lanes” and “streets’ of Mumbai and above all, not only consciously but people only offers me such scripts. People think it is my genre and I enjoy making such movies because such subject demands a lot of research”
“Realistic movies like Shootout at Lokhandwala, Ek Ajnabee and now Haseena Parkar, I enjoy researching for such subjects. I enjoy duplicating the original locations, and I try to make my reel characters similar to the real life characters” adds Apoorva.
Most of Apoorva’s stories are based on grey-shades of Mumbai city, which is conscious decision by the writer-director.
“Mumbai is such a cosmopolitan city with grey shades. There are rich and poor, we all living together, people from different caste and creed. I think that is the most amazing thing about our city and I’d like to portray that on-screen” says Apoorva.
“Haseena” is a biographical crime film based on terrorist Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar. The film marks Shraddha Kapoor’s first female protagonist venture as she is essaying the title role.
Siddhanth Kapoor portrays the role of Dawood Ibrahim, and Ankur Bhatia plays the role of Haseena’s husband.
The movie is slated for 18th August release.
