What sets Dangal TV apart is that despite being a new channel, they are not afraid of trying new things: Producer Ved raj on his successful association with the GEC

He adds, “We chose to explore simple and relatable stories, which struck a chord with the audience, especially women. It’s rare of a channel to not give makers sleepless nights when the ratings aren’t too good but that wasn’t the case with Dangal. They trusted our vision and I am happy that the results and the feedback to our shows have been encouraging.”

What sets Dangal TV apart is that despite being a new channel, they are not afraid of trying new things: Producer Ved raj on his successful association with the GEC

It takes a visionary to ideate unique storylines and someone with a great eye for talent to churn successful shows one after the other. Ved Raj seems to have aced both or how else do you describe his successful journey as a maker on the small screen? After a string of popular shows on various GECs, he trained his sights on Dangal TV, a channel that’s being hailed for its fresh and youth-centric content. Now, that’s a match made in heaven! Isn’t it? Ved currently has two shows — Nath Zewar Ya Zanjeer and Ishq Ki Dastaan – Naagmani – on air on Dangal TV. About his association with the channel, the producer says, “What sets Dangal TV apart is the fact that despite being a new channel, they are not afraid of trying new things. The team gave us a free hand to narrate the story. They were willing to experiment rather than sticking to the run-of-the-mill ideas.”

Not just as a producer, Ved carved out a niche for himself even as a writer. His journey in showbiz began when he dabbled in writing in his early 20s. He recalls, “I started out as an associate writer working on small projects. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (SNS) became a turning point in my career as a writer. It went on to become one of the most iconic shows on TV and more when I was still in my 20s. SNS broke many stereotypes associated with daily soaps. Back in the day, the writing for daily soaps was a bit serious but we introduced a fun element by weaving stories around small issues. We broke away from typical saas-bahu sagas by adding a dash of humor and fun to SNS. After that, people started taking me seriously and I bagged what I deserved.”

There was no looking back post that. Success followed him everywhere. After the family drama, he wrote Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, a love story. Ved says, “I have written more than 50 shows. I got my first break as a producer with Thapki – Pyaar Kii (2015), which was also written by me. My other show, Guddan Tumse Naa Ho Payega, was also loved by the audience.”

The writer in him gives an extra edge to the producer in him, as his years of writing have sharpened his understanding of subjects. He agrees, “My USP is that I am a writer, who turned producer. Daily soap is a writer’s domain, who has to think of out-of-the-box ideas in order to lend the much-needed freshness to the story, especially when a show runs for years. If your writing is strong, everything else will fall into place. For me, content is king. Solid writing is the foundation of all my shows.”

A secret mantra for his high success rate is also his sharp understanding of casting. He shares, “The most important factor governing the casting is that the actor should be closer to the character. I try to see how similar the actor is to the character, as it makes the process of acting so much easier. They don’t have to then act but just be themselves on the screen.”

Prateik Chaudhary, who plays Ashwin Awasthi in Four lions Productions’ Sindoor Ki Keemat on Dangal TV, says that the show is a hit for many reasons. The actor begins by praising the title.
“Definitely Sindoor Ki Keemat is a very strong title. Honestly, Sindoor Ki Koi Keemat Nahi hoti, Nahi kahi laga jaa sakti hai, kyunki woh toh anmol hota hain. Sindoor has a lot of power which gives a positive feeling all together. Even if it goes off air in future, I think people will remember this show,” he says.

Prateik gels well with everyone on set. “It’s not just the actors but those working behind the scenes as well, that is the production team, the direction team, spot dadas, light dadas…. We are like family and I also consider it my second home. It’s been a year now that we spend more than 14 hours a day daily,” he adds. The actor is very passionate about his work and loves being a part of this industry. “I guess my hard work, dedication and consistency has together been the landmark in my journey. The best thing about showbiz is that we get so much love, support and recognition from everyone that we rarely get from any other industry. There is so much that this place has taught me. It has made me patient and mature. The time I have spent here has made me stronger, those rejections made me work harder every time,” he says. About the competition in the entertainment industry, he adds, “There’s competition everywhere. But, genuinely I don’t like to compete with anyone, I am my own competition. I just like to be better than yesterday. I want to just keep growing.” Prateik is all praises for Dangal TV. “Dangal has been very kind to me not only with Sindoor Ki Keemat but I have been associated with them since the beginning of my career in 2019. I have done a couple of shows for them and they have always trusted me with good work,” he says. Watch Sindoor Ki Keemat, from 9pm, only on Dangal TV.

I feel Paro every moment, I live and breathe her: Aleya Ghosh on her character in Ishq Ki Dastaan Naagmani

Aleya Ghosh seems to be enjoying dabbling in genres other than family dramas. Not that it has been a deliberate attempt to steer clear of saas-bahu sagas, it’s just that by the work of destiny, the actress has been getting such offers. After essaying Satyabhama in RadhaKrishn and Yakshika in Hero – Gayab Mode On, Aleya is currently seen as the protagonist, Paro, in Dangal TV’s Ishq Ki Dastaan Naagmani. She says that she fell in love with the character almost instantly. She adds, “The character may be fictional but for me, it feels real. I feel her every moment, as I live and breathe Paro. Ishq Ki Dastaan Naagmani is her first show in the lead role. Is it unnerving to deal with the pressure of being the face of a show? She replies, “Yes, it is. I do feel the pressure of a hectic schedule. I don’t get much time for myself. A daily show demands a lot of physical and mental involvement. But, as they say, fortune favours the brave. I am grateful for this opportunity. I try to make time for yoga and meditation sessions. By god’s grace, our show has been doing well since the beginning and I feel lucky to be a part of it. I am glad that all the hard work is paying off. Both the channel and the production house are extremely professional and have been kind and supportive. I wish to live up to their expectations.”

What makes the process smooth is her bond with her co-actors. Aleya shares, “My favourite co-actor and support system on the set is Aditya Redij and I share my ‘dil ki baat’ with Shameem ji and my partner-in-crime, Garima Verma.”

The young actress feels blessed to be a part of the acting profession. She says that the opportunity to play different characters gives her immense joy. She adds, “The entertainment industry brings so many dreams into reality which is incomparable. You need to be consistent to leave a mark. Compete with yourself and that’s important for self-growth. Be diligent about your work and everything will fall into place eventually.”

Keep watching Ishq Ki Dastaan Naagmani from Monday to Saturday at 9:30 pm only on Dangal TV.
