The Bollywood has really few names in the list of comic actors and Jagdeep bags a special place among them. The actor has the best comic timing with a praiseworthy voice. He had been featured in almost more than 400 movies. His Bollywood career took a U-turn to be in talks through Sholey. He is still reminded by his role rather than the actual name. His birth name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri. The actor worked with real dedication and fit well in each of his roles. Sadly, the actor has left us on 8th July, “2020”. He was residing at Mumbai. He had been a part of the world since 1939-2020. Bollywood has lost many stars back to back this year. All those iconic figures who worked as a pillar at their peak times are no more. This really pours out our heart to think of this dark time in Bollywood.
He made the side roles of the movie really memorable. We still remember the role of Soorma Bhopali who blew life into that scene. More than his acting and comic timing, what attracted the attention of the audience was his dialogue delivery technique. Obviously, we all still remember the legendary dialogue “Mera naam Soorma Bhopali aise hi ni hai”. Of course, his transformation into the character and maintaining that image of a person picking toothpick with a mouth full of paan-peek is appreciable. He also acted in such comic way in the movie “Andaaz Apna Apna”. In this movie, he played the role of the father of another leading actor, Salman Khan. He joined the industry as a child artist. In his early days, he worked in do Bigha Zameen and Aar Paar like movies. He has been worked in more than four hundred movies like this. Jagdeep sir got to work in movies like Qurbani and Sehenshah too. Also, the scene of Sehenshah was liked most by viewers. The audience loved to see him in the role of the stupid fellow getting tricked again and again by the same people. Other than that he has also worked in many horror movies. A famous example is a movie Purana Mandir of Ramsey Brothers. Not many people noticed it but he had a really good voice. He spent more than six decades of his life amazingly in the industry but later went unnoticed.
He died in Mumbai. The death was natural. The news was confirmed by Nassir Khan to the media. His last rites were performed at Shia Quabristan. It was a privilege for us to have such an amazing talent among us. We are thankful to him for so many beautiful and entertaining memories through his art and acting. The audience of the present generation will also go in awe of him after watching those iconic scenes. Let’s all pray for the peace of the legendary soul. He will be always remembered via his outstanding work in Bollywood.
