Today, I feel word ‘star’ is misused says Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan attended Jagran Cinema Summit on Friday in Mumbai. During a panel interaction, Varun stated today word ‘star’ is misused.

Today influence of social media is immense and all actors in the industry is aware of this fact so when asked Varun that does social media aggravated whole perception of how a film will be taken by a public, to that, Varun said, “Totally, There are social media stars also who are star in their own right and who are doing really well in their space but can they open a film or can they guarantee that particular number by endorsing our film?, then the answer is no, because our country is very big. This years’ trend shows that films have done good business in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Heart land films are working as compared to any other films because there is more connect and more reliability. Usually, the biggest percentage of revenue comes from Maharashtra but this year Mumbai and these places haven’t put the best number.”

“Mumbai audience is different as compared to Delhi audience. Bangalore audience is keen to watch more multiplex films so you have to realize that the star is that actor whose films will work in each part of the country. It will work be it in multiplex, television, internet, Amazon or Netflix so I feel word ‘star’ is misused and media also label actors as stars very quickly but to become a star is something else only. A star is mass hysteria. For me, star is Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan so these tags shouldn’t be away easily”.

Varun Dhwan is gearing up for his next release ‘Judwaa 2’ which is remake of Salman khan starrer 1997 released film ‘Judwaa’. It is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu, Jacqueline Fernandez and Anupam kher in lead roles.

Judwaa 2 is releasing on 29 September, 2017.
