Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Tuesday celebrated her late father’s birthday alongside daughter Aradhya and mother Vrinda Rai with NGO kids at Smile Train India. Ever since her father’s demise, the ‘Fanney Khan’ actress has been celebrating her father’s birth anniversary as ‘Day of Smiles’ with Smile Train and NGO kids.
Addressing the media Aishwarya said, “It has almost been a decade since I am associated with Smile Train India and dare I say, I am impressed with their dedication and hard work towards the cause.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been supporting Smile Train since 2009 as the Smile Train’s Global Goodwill Ambassador. Through ‘The Aishwarya Rai Foundation’, her father transformed the lives of 100 children with clefts in 2014 by bringing smiles to their faces with support for free cleft repair surgery.
Talking about the cause and the support it needs she said, “I think in a nation like ours where superstition takes over everything, awareness is much needed. When kids are born with a cleft palate, people make up some superstitious story about it and avoid the actual issue and are unaware that it can actually be treated. Which makes passing information even more important, I want to thank the media for making an effort to spread the word.”
Aishwarya spent time with cleft patients and encouraged the children to live fuller lives and pursue their dreams at the event.
She was last seen in the 2018 musical drama ‘Fanney Khan’ with Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor.
