Bollywood Celebrities bid farewell to Veteran AD Filmmaker Alyque Padamsee, who passed away in Mumbai today. He was 90.

Alyque Padamsee was best known for his role as Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 1982 historical drama “Gandhi”.  As the head of Lintas India, he was credited for building it into one of the top advertising agencies in the country.
Bollywood celebrities such as Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Jaaved Jaaferi bid farewell to the legendary AD filmmaker on social media.

Actor Arshad Warsi wrote, “Very sad to hear about #AlyquePadamsee I had the privilege of choreographing one of his plays. Admired him for his honesty, talent & intelligence. You will always be loved & missed, RIP Alyque”
Veteran actor Boman Irani expressed his grief, he wrote, “Saddened to hear of the passing of Ad Guru and Theatre doyen #AlyquePadamsee. He gave me my first break in Theatre, like countless before and after me. Maverick, Unique, Uncompromising. There will never be another…#RIP Alyque”

Actor Jaaved Jaaferi also expressed his grief on his Twitter account. He wrote, “An advertising genius, a master theatre director and a vociferous social activist who inspired people to fight for justice, and with whom I was fortunate enough to work under and be a friend passed away leaving behind a legacy. RIP #AlyquePadamsee”
Padamsee was the brain behind several iconic Indian ad campaigns including Lalitaji for Surf, the Liril girl, Cherry Charlie for Cherry Blossom Shoe Polish, Hamara Bajaj, the MRF muscle man among many other memorable ads.

For his contributions to the creative field, he was honored with Padmashri in 2000 and was named “Advertising Man of the Century” by The Advertising Club in Mumbai. He also received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Ratna in 2012.
