When Carole Radziwill announced that she was leaving Real Housewives of New York City after six seasons, she said she wanted to focus on her journalism career and other projects. But her friend Rori Sassoon, the co-founder of the power couple matchmaking service Platinum Poire, says that there were other reasons behind Radziwill’s departure.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Sassoon said that she felt Radziwill wasn’t being herself on the show, and she is really a classy, smart, and intelligent woman. The celebrity matchmaker also noted it was beneath Radziwill to be insulting and have to defend herself.
“We are grown women. Do we have to do that in our 50’s? It’s silly,” said Sassoon.
She added that Radziwill is brilliant, and there are bigger and better things out there for her. Sassoon also revealed that she believes Radziwill’s falling out with co-star Bethenny Frankel played a part in the decision to leave.
Sassoon explained that Radziwill and Frankel were very close, and they “were thick as thieves.” She said the two women bonded, and this falling out is like a divorce. She also said that Frankel is a tough cookie, and with her, it is complete verbal warfare. So, if you don’t have that skill set, she is like a machine gun.
She didn’t have any predictions for who would replace Radziwill in the cast. But, she did say that she hopes it is someone who has a little bit of sense and is actually a housewife — someone who is married.
In Radziwill’s official statement that confirmed her departure, she said she decided to return to journalism and producing, which is what she does best. She added that she didn’t think it would come as a surprise to fans.
The 54-year-old explained that her original curiosity about reality TV has waned throughout the years, and she wanted to focus on projects that better suit her temperament. However, during her time on RHONY, she said that she had the chance to work with amazing producers and make great friends. But, she is happy to leave her frenemies behind.

Radziwill also asked her followers in an Instagram poll if following their heart was more important than their bank account. She posed the question, “If you were doing something that was forcing you to do things that went against your own value system would you walk away regardless of the pay?”
Her fans responded with an overwhelming 80 percent saying that they would walk away. Carole Radziwill said that is how she has felt during this past year, and life is long, so you can’t always play the short game.
New episodes of Real Housewives of New York City air Wednesday nights on Bravo.
