A Season 9 preview of The Walking Dead suggests Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes will have an exit that mirrors a major iconic death from the comics.
‘The Flash’ Confirmed To Begin Production February 2019
Comic book fans should prepare themselves after the show’s writer hints that Rick’s exit from The Walking Dead will mirror that of the comic book’s storyline with Rick’s emotional reaction when Andrea died. Walking Dead fans better steel themselves for one of the show’s most emotional goodbyes yet. Michonne will never be the same, and neither will the show’s fans.
During a Season 9 preview, Angela Kang opened up about the show’s direction comparing it to the comics when Rick lost Andrea. She says it will be Michonne’s new journey to figure out what she does without Rick:
“For comic book readers, they’ll know that when Rick lost Andrea, that was a huge moment for him. So, we will be exploring the different directions that Michonne goes and it may not be exactly what you expect.”
She then comments about the strength of Michonne and how tough she is with Rick by her side and how that will be affected after he’s gone:
“We’ll see that Rick and Michonne, it’s one of the strongest relationships that we have on the show. They’re raising Judith. They’re so in sync with each other and they support each other’s goals. They’re not doing exactly the same things, Michonne has her own journey she’s going through this season. This being Andy’s last season on the show, we’re going to explore what that does to Michonne.”
