Tiger Zinda Hai actor, Katrina Kaif says not commenting on a topic does not mean she doesn’t have an opinion on the sidelines of her being announced ambassador of the international award-winning non-profit organization, ‘Educate Girls’
When asked about celebrities not having an opinion about issues or current topics and especially female celebrities being treated lowly for not being smart, Katrina said, “Political or government do matter, but, celebrities I think a lot of actors, they are not into politics and they don’t feel the need to comment and genuinely don’t want to comment. There is a big difference between having an opinion at home and speaking about it on a public platform, or having an opinion about a social cause like this, ‘Educate Girls’.
I don’t know about other people and I won’t speak about them, but for me personally, there are times I don’t feel the need to comment on a topic, which doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion on it. It means perhaps it is not the right time or place. When there are certain causes, Educate Girls, for me, this is not politics, it is a social cause or a humanitarian cause, and this is a cause I believe in”
Katrina also expressed that she is trying to encourage the women around her to make them better professionals. “Rather than just seeing what they (women) can do for me, I am trying to encourage them to become better in their profession, whatever it may be, so for me, that is very important. A lot of things starts with mindset. We all can address our mindset and make sure as to, what are we doing for the women around us,”
Talking about having a movie specifically based on “Educating Girl Child” in Bollywood, Actress Katrina Kaif said, “I don’t believe you need to have a movie to take this cause further or spread the awareness about this cause. There are many ways we can do it, although a movie on it, sometimes a message which comes across through movie, which is non-judgmentally, non-forcefully or organically via an entertaining form, as a movie, is an amazing way to get the message across. Someone making a movie would be outstanding.”
Kaif also talked about ‘Secret Superstar’ bring issues on Girl child, “A film such as Secret Superstar, that movie had that message. That was definitely the message that got across. A young talented girl who is being stopped from fulfilling her dreams because the society and world around her are not allowing her to do that, so for me, there are movies being made like that, you don’t necessarily need a movie just about the classroom. This messaging coming into our movies is a great way to take the message further in our society. We all love movies and that is a great way to get people’s attention on the topic”
Katrina Kaif is currently busy with ‘Zero’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and “Thugs of Hindostan” which also stars Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
