Filmmaker Anil Sharma hosted the wrap-up party of his upcoming film ‘Genius’ along with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ayesha Julka, Aruna Irani, Madhu Chopra, Ishita and Utkarsh Sharma on Wednesday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Sharma said that he is a taskmaster as a director.
Sharing his experience working with his son Utkarsh Sharma in ‘Genius’, Sharma said, “The film story sums up in the tagline of the film which says the battle of heart with mind. Everyone must be thinking that he is my son so I must have treated gently on film sets but that’s not the case. I am taskmaster as a director. I worked with him in ‘Gadar’ as well. When I am working as a director then I only act as a director that time I only see actors like characters for my film. While shooting for ‘Gadar’, I made Utkarsh shoot in really tough conditions and late nights as well so in this film also I treated him only as an actor who plays a character in my film and not as a son.”
“My experience working with him in this film was really great. Since his first film as a child actor, I realized that he has a special talent and then his did film production course in the United States. I think in this film, he has done a fantastic job with his realistic performance but now things are in audience hands whether they will accept him or not as an actor as I think the image of an actor is largely created by the audience. As an actor, you just have to make sure that you have to put your best possible effort in every aspect be it dancing, action, drama and living the character which you are playing. In this field, fathers cannot shape careers of their child if that has been the case then there would have been so many successful actors from film families”
When asked Sharma whether he is feeling pressure launching his son under his direction, he said, “I am not feeling any kind of pressure as a father or director. I am only focusing on how I can make an overall good film. If there would be other actors’ instead of Utkarsh (Sharma) in my film then also I would have put in the same amount of effort and energy to make a good film”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays an important character in ‘Genius’, talking about working with him, Sharma said, “Everyone knows that Nawaz (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a natural and wonderful actor. I remember when I narrated this film’s script to him, he agreed to play his part because he liked the script at the same time, he told me that Utkarsh is a natural actor from their initial conversation. It was easy working with Nawaz as I feel he acts in the natural flow and such actor boon for the filmmaker, on the other hand, actors who try hard to act are difficult to work with”
Apart from Utkarsh Sharma, newbie Ishita, Ayesha Jhulka, Mithun Chakraborty and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are also a part of the movie. ‘Genius’ is reportedly said to be the story of a witty youngster whose experiments can change the way we look at science and it is slated to on 24th August 2018.
