Actor Amit Sadh who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Gold’ has said that as of now, independent cinema in India hasn’t found support system.
Amit Sadh was speaking with media at NEWS18 Reel Awards on Tuesday in Mumbai.
Talking about NEWS18 Reel Awards which has taken initiative to support independent cinema, Sadh said, “I think it’s very good initiative to acknowledge independent cinema people, the actual and real people who nobody looks at. Unfortunately, the system is kind of such that independent cinema in India as of now has not found a support system so, I am very thankful on behalf of actor and artists. I think independent cinema of a country is important because independent cinema reflects communities and people from grass root level which is spine of our country and I am sure with this support and acknowledgement, more people will be encouraged to come out and tell more stories because India is very high on diversity and I hope it’s a time that we get high on content so I am excited to be here and I hope it will be a fun evening”
Talking about success of first Amazon Prime Video series ‘Breathe’ starring R. Madhvan and Amit Sadh, Sadh said, “I am actually very grateful to media and fans because in my life, I haven’t experienced such kind of cloudburst of positive feedback after ‘Kai Po Che’. I am very humbled and encouraged and this will help me to work harder & be better. It really overwhelming and keep it coming I guess”
Recently, Irrfan Khan has revealed that he has been diagnosed with neuroendrocrine tumour and is out of the country for treatment, sharing his view on Irrfan Khan’s ill-health, Sadh said, “We know his story before he became the Irrfan Khan that we all know. He is the legend and one of the best actors of this country. I am sure he is a strong man. He has a great support from his fans and country so I am sure he will bounce back and I am just waiting for him to bounce back”
Talking about increasing space and acceptance from audience for digital medium, Sadh said, “I think at any place if the audience will find good content, a good story that effects, moves and entertain them, then people will watch that. Having said that, I think this medium is growing and has its impact. Movie has its own impact and digital medium has very personal impact which I am also learning through ‘Breathe’, I am also engaging and realizing that the effect of this medium in its own way which is very powerful”
Talking about his upcoming projects, Sadh said, “My film ‘Gold’ is releasing on 15th August, 2018.”
“Gold” which is a sports-drama re-creates the golden victory of independent India in hockey in 1948 at the XIV Olympiad.
Amit Sadh portrays the character of the champion hockey player along with Akshay Kumar, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Mouni Roy featuring in it.
It is produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Reema Kagti and it is scheduled to release on Independence Day this year.
