Boman Irani is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Welcome to New York. During a promotional interview for the film on Wednesday the veteran actor said, Karan has great screen presence and knows his craft.
Boman who has worked with Johar in numerous films like Main Hoon Na (2004) and Student Of The Year (2012), will be seen sharing screen space in ‘Welcome to New York’. When asked to share his working experience with the filmmaker he said, “Karan started directing later, first he was an actor. Even Raju Hirani has done theater a lot as an actor. They know what they want on screen and express it because they are actors at heart. Karan Johar has a good presence on screen, even during an interview, he speaks well has his own style and unique personality.”
Boman says Karan naturally knows how to keep everyone happy on set, “When he is on screen he knows the craft, to top it he is a very jolly person and has a great sense of humor. So working with him was very easy, even if he debuted in ‘Bombay Velvet’ but it’s not his debut he knows the craft well enough to do it easily. From his experience as a director-producer, he knows how to keep everyone happy on the set, so even as an actor you feel nice working with him.”
When asked to comment on the backlash Karan received for acting in ‘Bombay Velvet’ he said, “I think if you are an entertainer, your aim is to just entertain without hurting anyone. So I think its nice to some time laugh at yourself, its ok. If the film is talking about behind the scenes and about the film set then that’s what you will find in the film. We have tried to bring forward what we do on set and there is nothing wrong with it.”
The story is reportedly about two youngsters living in India, who are in search of a better life for themselves. An unexpected trip to New York City sets them off on an adventure that changes their lives forever.
Directed by Chakri Toleti, and co-produced by Pooja Films and Wiz Films, ‘Welcome to New York’ is slated to release on 23rd February 2018.
