Balaji Motion Pictures confirms the viral news that Filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, who is working on Batti Gul Meter Chalu after his debut with the Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, is already on to his third social drama based on Verghese Kurien, to be produced by Ekta Kapoor.
The filmmaker has joined hands with Ekta Kapoor to direct a film on Dr Verghese Kurien, father of the White Revolution, whose Operation Flood (1970) was the world’s largest agricultural dairy development programme.
Balaji Motion Pictures confirmed the news via social media. They tweeted, “@ektaravikapoor and @ToiletTheFilm director @ShreeNarayanSi5 are coming together to bring the Father of White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien’s life story on the silver screen!”
The gallant efforts of Verghese Kurien made dairy farming India’s largest self-sustaining industry and the largest rural employment provider. Singh will also co-produce the film with Ekta Kapoor who has acquired the film rights to Kurien’s autobiography, I Too Had A Dream.
Confirming the news on social media, Ekta Kapoor tweeted, “A story that needs to be told! Proud to bring Dr. Verghese Kurian’s Operation Flood to the big screen with @ToiletTheFilm director @ShreeNSingh”

As for “Batti Gul Meter Chalu” which is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam, highlights the issues around electricity in India.
