Makers of ‘Vodka Diaries’ hosted special screening of the film on Wednesday in Mumbai. Bollywood celebrities like Imtiaz Ali, Makrand Deshpande, Ashutosh Gowariker and Kay Kay Menon attended special screening of the film. During media interaction, Makrand said that ‘Vodka Diaries’ is not only a brave attempt but it’s a successful attempt too.

Talking about ‘Vodka Diaries’, Makrand Deshpande said, “It’s an amazing movie. This kind of film rarely being made in this genre. I will recommend the audience to go and watch this film. The film is good right from the beginning and audience will be crazy while watching second half of the film from the interval point. Kay Kay (Menon) has delivered extra-ordinary performance in the film. I think it’s a dream for every actor to get an opportunity to play character like this which is challenging and where his experience will be at the stake while performing it and I feel with this film, Kay Kay has managed to achieve that.

“I heard its directorial debut of Kushal Srivatava but I feel it’s not only a brave attempt but it’s a successful attempt too. If we will continue to make film like this then it will be really good for audience, actors and filmmakers. This film in not about ‘who is done it’ it’s about ‘what has made it to do it’”

Talking about ‘Vodka Diaries’, Imtiaz Ali said, “It’s a long time since I have seen a mystery movie like this involving some psychological mind games. It’s always phenomenal to watch Kay Kay (Menon) onscreen. Mandira Bedi is also really nice in the film. I feel she performed very well as I didn’t expect her to do so well actually. I didn’t expected that this film unfold amazingly after the interval. ‘Vodka Diaries’ is very intriguing and very well done. This film has lots of layers and the way t gets unfolds, it’s very interesting. The basic conception of the film is really good and the way it has written and executed is really good”

Talking about direction of debutant director Kushal Srivastava, Imtiaz said, “Kushal Srivatava has made very promising start. It’s a thought of very nicely. The world and the mental scape that he has created in this film is very interesting. I think Kushal has managed to hold interest of the audience right through”

Imtiaz Ali and Shahid Kapoor is collaborating again after almost 10 years since their last film ‘Jab We Met’, so when asked Imtiaz status of that film, Imtiaz said, “No. I wouldn’t like to say anything about anything else right now, let’s come to that first. There are lots of things that have to happen before any kind of announcement is being made”

When asked Imtiaz which film he will watch on republic day ‘Padman’ or ‘Padmaavat’, he said, “I will watch both films. I will firstly see that which film’s ticket I will manage to buy”

‘Vodka Diaries is set in the misty town of Manali, ACP Ashwini Dixit (Kay Kay Menon) is in quest to solve series of mysterious murders happening over a single night, which seem to be connected to a night club, Vodka Diaries.

It stars Kay kay Menon, Mandira Bedi, raima Sen and Sharib Hashmi in key roles.
