Filmmaker Rohit Shetty attended the promotional press conference of Star Plus upcoming talent show named ‘India’s Next Superstars’ along with Karan Johar on Friday in Mumbai. During press interaction, Rohit said that it is his and Karan Johar’s responsibility to ensure that winner of ‘India’s Next Superstars’ has all the qualities of a superstar.
Talking about why he chose to be part of India’s Next Superstars’, Shetty said, “One of the main reasons that me and Karan (Johar) were agreed to do show is the format where we have selected 20 participants from entire India and after that, we have followed a proper process. It’s not that both of us will come on the show Saturday and Sunday and judge them on their performance but apart from that, we will show the audience of the show that how these participants are being groomed from Monday to Friday. They will go through training in each aspect whether it’s dance, action or acting where they will explore different genres of emotion, drama or comedy. I feel it is our responsibility to find a superstar who will have all these qualities because anyone sitting at home shouldn’t feel that we are way better than these participants. I feel audience sitting at home and watching our show will also learn something from it”
Shetty hasn’t worked with the newcomer in his entire career and ‘India’s Next Superstar’ winner will have the opportunity to work in Rohit Shetty film so when asked Rohit how he sees that scenario as he hasn’t worked with newcomer earlier, he said, “This show’s format is completely different. I haven’t worked with any newcomer till now. Normally, we auditioned them, select them and shoot film with them when you feel that certain boy or girl has talent but this show’s process is such that all these participants will be groomed and improve as an actor in front of us. There entire training will be in front of us so in a way, they will not be new for me because I will spend almost 3 months with them and after that, they will start shooting for their film”
Talking about the current crop of young superstars Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan, Shetty said, “I think three of them are superstars for us whether it is Ranbir (Kapoor), Ranveer (Singh) or Varun (Dhawan). I have worked with Varun and Karan has worked with Varun and Ranbir and now with Ranveer, I and Karan are working on a film so three of them are stars in their own zone and they are doing really well and all of them are brilliant actors”
Karan Wahi and Rithwik Dhanjani are going to host ‘India’s Next Superstar’ so, talking about chemistry between ‘India Next Superstars’ show’s host, Shetty said, “We wanted that Rithwik (Dhanjani) and Karan Wahi should host the show because me and Karan earlier worked on a show with both of them. When we shot our first episode, there was different chemistry in between four of us. There was lot entertainment, comedy and good atmosphere on the show. I think both have good chemistry in between them and they are best hosts that we have so it was fun”
After the Successful outing of ‘Golmaal Again’, Rohit Shetty next will be directing Ranveer Singh in ‘Simmba’, which is loosely based on Jr NTR-starrer ‘Temper’.
Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar collaborate for the first time with this film. Co-produced by Rohit Shetty Pictures and Dharma Productions, Simba is scheduled to arrive in theatres across the world on 28th December 2018.
