Filmmaker Karan Johar attended the promotional press conference of Star Plus upcoming talent show named ‘India’s Next Superstars’ along with Rohit Shetty here in Mumbai.
During press interaction, Karan expressed that Shahrukh Khan, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and more bring “X” Factor to celluloid, which makes them superstars.
Talking about India’s Next Superstars and its core definition, Karan Johar said, “It is really very difficult to define superstardom if we all knew the definition of superstar; we’d have millions of them because there isn’t any definition, it is a feeling”
“It is a feeling that an actor or an artist has with an audience. Something that is organic. I mean you don’t know why you love Shahrukh Khan or loved Rajesh Khanna? Why you have deep admiration and respect for Amitabh Bachchan? It is the X-factor that they bring to celluloid, that just makes you feel like that they are a part of your life”
Karan Johar further added that female superstars connect with the audience on an unexplainable level.
“Why do you love Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt? You love them because they connect with you on a level that you can’t express and explain. But I feel the biggest connect of a superstar is that he or she has with you personally. You start engulfing them in your life, some of you feel that they are your lover or husband, brother or father, they have this instant family connect with you, your heart and yourself. And that is something none of us know” added Karan.
Karan Johar also quipped that he also gets a feeling watching the audition of an artist, which he can’t explain.
“It is just a feeling, which I get when I see an audition of any artist. I get this feeling, that yes he does have star like quality or maybe not? So there isn’t expression or explanation, for this, it is just a feeling” added Karan Johar talking about “India’s Next Superstars”.
Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar are also collaborating for the first time with Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh.
The film is Co-produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions, Simmba is scheduled to arrive in theatres across the world on 28th December 2018.
