Newbie Malavika Mohanan was spotted at the trailer launch of Beyond The Clouds. During her media interaction, the actress stated that working with Majid Majidi is more than a dream.
Talking about Ideal debut in Bollywood or films, Malavika said, “I wanted to basically work with somebody, whose work I believed in, somebody’s work that resonates with me, on a personal level. I’ve grown up watching a lot of Majidi sir’s films, Children of Heaven and Songs of sparrows, and for me, it is as simple as that, I loved his films, I loved his work”
“And when I got the chance to work with him, it was more than a dream. It was everything just fell perfectly into place. So it was more than I could ask for or even imagine. It was perfect”

The trailer of the film festival circuit’s favorite film, Beyond The Clouds, was unveiled among cast and crew. The film is directed by Iranian Filmmaker Majid Majidi, starring Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan in lead roles.

It was also reported that big names like Deepika Padukone and more were in line for the female lead role, but the filmmaker handpicked Malavika. The actress admits that she was aware of other contestants for the role but didn’t know full details.

“I have been told they were but I wasn’t aware of much, but when Honey Irani called me to his office and I met him for the first time. And he told me, right off the bat, it is Majid Majidi’s film and I stared at him blankly because I didn’t know what was happening. Things rather happened quickly and I got the film. I was more focused on film and what was required out of me, rather than what was happening around” said Malavika, when asked about other heroine contesting for the role.

Ishaan and Malvika deliver a rock solid performance in the 2-minute-long trailer and leave you longing for more. Their performances have already impressed the festival and now Majidi’s film is set for a theatrical release on March 23.
