Rani Mukerji was present at the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Hichki’ on Tuesday. During media interaction she said, You have to see the actor for what its worth and not the tag of age or marriage.
When asked if she believes that age and marriage change the way actresses are seen in the film industry and work is offered to them, she said, “I don’t think that’s true, times are changing. And in the West, we have never seen any discrimination like that. Here we do have that Hichki (obstacle) but with time if we work on it, things will change.”
“If you walk into a theater not tagging the actress as married or with a child you will see the character in the film. You have to see the actor for what its worth. But if you are going to judge an actor based on what she is going through in her personal life then these Hichki’s will keep coming to you.” she added.
Talking about motherhood, Rani was asked about shying away from posting pictures of her kid unlike other star kids, she said, “I think its a decision taken together by my husband and me. My husband being a private person, his point of view is that he wants Adira to have a normal upbringing. we don’t want her to be treated differently in the school and let her feel like she can be given preferences. such things can stem other emotions too. If she wishes to go to the beach or a movie with her friends we would want her to go unnoticed. I think is the best we want to do for her.”
When asked if there were any other films offered to her after ‘Mardaani’ she said, I don’t remember as such but after pregnancy when I decided and said that I want to do a film then I was offered Hichki.”
‘Hichki’ is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
The movie is slated for 23rd February 2018 release.
