No one stood by me as much as Balasaheb Thackeray did: Amitabh Bachchan

Veteran Actor attended teaser launch of the upcoming film based on former Shivsena Supremo Bal Thackeray in the presence of Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut, Shivsena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Thursday. While addressing the teaser launch event, Bachchan said no one stood by him as much as Balasaheb did.
Remembering Thackeray, Bachchan stated during hard times in his life and when there were allegations on the Bachchan family, Balasaheb stood by them and often called him home, saying he wanted to talk.
Sharing one such incident Amitabh said, “when there were allegations on me and my family, Balasaheb called me at his home and asked what is the truth? I told him, I am telling the truth. He told me ‘don’t be afraid, I am with you’. No one stood by me as much as he did,”
The ‘Piku’ actor said he was saddened to see Thackeray on deathbed and was praying some miracle happens so that he could be saved.
The actor recalled visiting him said, “We were only praying for him because we wanted him to live long with us. I never wanted to see him in that state, it was a tough time to see him like that. I was surprised to see my picture in his room, next to his head. I was stunned and that moment has been captured for life,”
Bal Thackeray was one of the iconic politicians who started his career as a cartoonist and social worker. Later he formed a regional political party in Maharashtra named Shiv Sena that ruled the political scenario of the state for around 50 years. He passed way in 2012.
Directed by Abhijit Panse, written by Sanjay Raut, ‘Thackeray’ will release on January 23, 2019, in Hindi and Marathi language.
