Pahlaj Nihalani was present at the Launch of the December Cover of Society Magazine on Wednesday. During media interaction he said, Julie 2 was a disaster.
After Nihalani was sacked from Central Board of Film Certification, Pahlaj Nihalani became the distributor of erotic thriller Julie 2 the sequel to Neha Dhupia-starrer Julie in 2004.When asked if he is happy with Julie 2’s box office collection Nihalani said, “No, not at all it was a disaster” he admits the film has failed to collect basic costs of its production value.
After Central board of film Certification, when asked if life has changed or treated him differently Nihalani said, “During my time also we were following the amendments which I strictly implemented to avoid corruption and now also they are still following the same methods but first people were against it because it was Pahlaj Nihalani’s censor board and now it has become government’s Central Board of Film Certification. As far as my life is concerned I am eating the same Dal, Chawal so nothing has actually changed in my life.”
Commenting on the current Padmavati Controversy the former CBFC chairman said, “I have sympathy from director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and I am concerned for the industry. Not only Padmavati but any film can fall prey to these political traps of different parties. I think it is sad, and the industry should come together and decide a course of action. We should not be a victim of politics.”
‘Julie 2’ presented by Pahlaj Nihalani and Triumph Talkies stars Raai Laxmi and Ravi Kishan. Raai plays the title character in the thriller film.
The film released in October failed to amuse the critics and audience.
