It’s important to have our home grown high street brand says, Sonam Kapoor


Actress walked the ramp for fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani at ‘Blenders Pride Fashion Tour’ on Saturday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Sonam said that is important to have our homegrown high street brand when it comes to style and fashion.

Labeled as the fashion icon of Bollywood, recently launched her own high street brand ‘Rheson’ along with her younger sister Rhea Kapoor so when asked Sonam what efforts she has been taking to promote that brand, Sonam said, “Reason is not a celebrity brand. It’s not a celebrity endorsement. My sister and I own it. We always thought that lot of these high street brands and fashion designers who use Indian karagirs (laborer) and factories to sell their brand abroad so we said why don’t we create a brand that is affordable, fashionable and contemporary outfits cater young Indians and more than that I feel it’s important to have our homegrown high street brand when it comes to style and fashion to support our economy and at the same time fashion industry”

Talking about his association with fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, Sonam said, “I know him since I was born. I know him for very long time. It’s always amazing working with him. I always ways walk for designers whose clothes I wear. My first ever ramp walk was with Tarun for a denim brand and that was really mind-blowing so when you get chance to walk the ramp once in a while then it feels amazing”

Elaborating fashion show theme and tagline ‘More than you think’ Sonam said, “More than you think means never judge a book by its cover. There are little more gravitas and depth to things besides what you see from outside”
