Twinkle Khanna was present at the song launch of ‘PadMan’ along with actor Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, and director Balki on Wednesday. During media interaction Twinkle said, she didn’t think there was anyone else apt for this aside from Balki.
When asked why Balki was chosen as the director for the film, Twinkle said, “Once I came across Muruganantham story and I wrote that. when we decided in order to reach across boards, across states across religion, we know that there are only two things that work in this country one is cricket and other is cinema. cricketers are busy with their own pads so we thought about making the film. There was only one name in my mind, no other than him.”
“I have watched his films and I think he is a sensitive filmmaker. He understands women partly because of his wonderful wife Gauri. I don’t think there was anyone else apt for this aside from Balki” added Twinkle.
When reporters asked question-related to menstrual cycle and sanitary pads to the women on the panel, director R Balki stepped in and said, “You must ask us, men, such question because this is a film where a man is taking up this issue. Women have known about this issue and are going through it. But it is men who are insensitive to it and don’t even have a clue about this whole thing. That is all the film is about, how to raise more awareness among the men in the family, among people. Of course among women but and also about how many more people can help them.”
Padman is a Hindi comedy-drama film directed by R. Balki, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte. It is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantha, who created a revolution in the field of affordable menstrual hygiene.
Produced by KriArj Entertainment, Mrs. Funnybones Movies, Hope Productions and Columbia Pictures the film will be released worldwide on January 26th, 2018.
