Manushi has become the sixth Indian ever to win the coveted title of Miss World 2017 at a grand ceremony held on November 18, 2017, at the Sanya City Arena, China The competition saw 121 participants from all over the world participating and giving a stiff competition.
Manushi is a shining example of Young India which is proud, confident, educated, and ambitious. Manushi has been brought up with the correct morals and values. She is India’s best example of what our current generation is all about. Woman power in its purest form. India has won this pageant after 17 years when Priyanka Chopra bagged it in the year 2000. Apart from her, Diana Hayden in 1997, Aishwarya Rai in 1994, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Reita Furia in 1966.
An overjoyed Manushi who was earlier the winner of fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2017 said, “I still can’t believe that I have won the Miss World title. Being just the sixth Indian ever to win this title internationally makes me immensely proud and ecstatic. I am very happy for the support of my family, friends, and fans that supported me through this journey. I am thankful to The Times Group and Miss India Organization for giving me this opportunity and guiding me throughout my exciting journey. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my well-wishers.”
From being a simple Delhi girl to representing India at Miss World 2017, Manushi’s journey has been an inspiring one. Born into a family of doctors in Haryana, Manushi grew up amidst a progressive outlook and was always encouraged to follow her dreams which she is currently doing, aspiring to become a cardiac surgeon.
India also won the Beauty with a Purpose Contest and Head to Head Challenge. As we all know, Miss.World is all about ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. For the said project for Miss World 2017, Manushi undertook an initiative known as ‘Project Shakti’ where she spread awareness on menstrual hygiene, visiting 20 villages, distributing sanitary napkins and thereby improving the lives of more than 5000 women.
A role model for every Indian girl, she epitomizes the new India. Dedicated, hardworking, value-driven and fun loving, Manushi Chhillar is all set to make her mark, with the world at her feet.
