Shah Rukh Khan attended launch of TED Talks – India Nayi Soch along with Uday Shankar, CEO of Star India on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Shah Rukh stated that he is not even competing with his counterpart Akshay Kumar and Salman khan when it comes to hosting a show on television.
Earlier, at the launch of Bigg Boss Season 11, Salman Khan said that it will be competition to Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh khan who are hosting their shows on television along with him, replying to that, Shah Rukh said, “ To be really honest, what Salman and Akshay is doing, they are in league of their own. I am not even competing with them right now. They are doing wonderfully well. Having said that, I will not say that this show is so different that we are not competing on the platform but I think, this really a different kind of platform as it has different sensibilities. This show will be running in a lane of its own not competing with anyone. It’s genuinely an inspiring show, it will have entertainment and it’s all about sharing thoughts and ideas. We are not looking for any specific TRP ratings either. I am hopeful that we will be able to compete with our self and then hopefully it will transform and transcend to the audience.”

Talking about hosting this show which is different from what he hosted earlier on television, Shah Rukh said, “In shows, like these, there least work for the host but I feel it is most important also. I am a movie actor, I have earlier hosted so many television and award shows. I feel hosting TED Talks is extremely, positively and creatively challenging. This is the show where I have to present my own personality. This show has kept me more alive. While doing the show, I was listening to speakers and I wanted to participate in the experiences of their life. Hopefully, it will come through when I am hosting it. I hope, I am able to enhance the ideas, thoughts, talks and experiences that people have there on this show and become part of it. This has been creatively challenging for me but personally it was very satisfying experience”

When asked him who inspired in his life, Shah Rukh said, “I used to get inspired by Milkha Singh, Mohammad Ali, Mother Teresa, and P.T. Usha. I know, I cannot become like them but now also, I read a lot books written on them. I also get inspired by Indian Hockey team of current and previous generation not because I have done film based on them but I was hockey player in my younger days. There are so many personalities from which I get inspired from because there life was small and simple but they did some extra-ordinary work in their life time.”

This is the first time TED Talks is going to be on television anywhere in the world. Shah Rukh has already shot for few episodes of the show. It will air on Star Plus.
