Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for the screening of his production titled, ‘TOFFEE’ at the 19th Jio MAMI Film Festival. During a promotional interview said, he always wanted to work on a thriller with Sriram Raghavan.
Ayushmann, who is known for slice of life films is now starring a thriller titled, ‘Shoot the Piano Player’. It is difficult because I am changing my genre after 5 years of working in Slice of life movies. Plus the character itself is challenging I am playing a blind musician who is part of a thriller. Also the fact that I am learning piano for the role, I have a coach who trains me and helps me practice 4 hours almost every other day.”
The actor also revealed that the film will resume shooting after Diwali, “40% of the film is complete. I was busy with two releases and Tabu ma’am is busy with ‘Golmaal’ so we will continue shooting after Diwali. Once we are free, we will start the next schedule with Raghavan sir.”
Ayushmann was asked if there was a specific reason why he chose to produce the short film, ‘TOFFEE’, he said, the film spoke to him and he believed that the film should be made, “All my films are socially relevant whether it is ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Vicky Donor’ or ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’ they all have a message. This short film is an extension of my films; it talks about many things through subtext like child labor, skin color difference, including the main issue of child marriage.”
Ayushmann was asked if the fraternity is looking forward to watching the film, he said, “I don’t think they will be able to watch the film while MAMI Screening, also Mukesh Chhabra isn’t here currently. Once he comes back we will for sure keep a special screening for all my Bollywood friends.”
Presented by Ayushmann Khurrana and Mukesh Chhabra, ‘TOFFEE’ is a short film directed by debutant Tahira Kashyap.
The film will Premier at MAMI on Saturday 14th Oct.
