Filmmaker Anand L Rai joined hands with producer Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films to present Rajkummar Rao starrer Newton. The co-producer Anand who is currently celebrating Newton’s success and Oscar nomination during an interview said Newton nomination will showcase Indian cinema as a developed Film industry.
Anand was asked about what he expects from the film now going to Oscars to represent India, he said, “All I hope for is that we keep working harder and when our work is sent to other film industries they should be able to see that we are only better every year. I feel very lucky that we have a medium to express our voice. It’s not just a film, it’s a thought and as an Indian, we should be able to see that India doesn’t end in the metro cities.
I hope that after this film like Amit, other directors will also make such films that will erase the line between commercial and artistic films.”
Rai further added that more than Oscar Indian Audience’s response is important to him. “When it comes to Oscars, I am happy that people will watch this film more because of the news. I don’t really know what will happen there and it’s not that important for me. What is important is that this has given us a hope to believe in our work and the film. What I am waiting for is to find out the reactions of our Indian Audience.”
The audience and Critics feeling the same way about a film has happened after a long time, but Newton made everyone feel the same when asked to comment on the same lead actor Rajkummar said, “Because Newton is our ideal hero, I think he is our real superhero. We need more people like him in our society and in our system.”
