Actress Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana interacted with media on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Bhumi stated that she is going to find roles where she will get opportunity to perform as an actress.
Bhumi’s impresive run at the box office started from her debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha and after that her second film Toilet – Ek Prem Katha with Akshay Kumar has emerged as the biggest hit of 2017 and her third film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan garnering rave reviews from the audience, so when asked her future strategy to choose roles, she said, “Earlier also. I had certain parameters while I was choosing scripts and they are still the same. As far as economics of the films is concerned, I am very happy that my previous films have done well but nothing changes for me. I am still like an actor who is going to find roles where I get opportunity to perform”.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan deals with sexual performance anxiety and erectile dysfunction which is relevant but still a taboo in Indian society, when asked her whether this film will break the notions about this issue , she said, “Definitely, because I feel, films are really good medium to educate our society specially , our films is an family entertainer. This films tells that as partners, you should start a conversation if you are suffering from these kind of problem because there are so many broken marriages because of these reasons but our parents doesn’t accepts this fact”.
“Somebody’s sexual performance in bed does not mean that he is a great man. I feel good man needs to have respect for his wife, sister, his family and people around him so I feel after watching our film people will 100% change their perception about this issue”.
Bhumi being born and brought up in Mumbai spoke about recent flood in Mumbai, she said, “This hasn’t happened in this year only. The environment has becoming a problem for years but we as a human being just not acknowledge it. Floods are happening regularly, ice caps are melting and there is hurricane every year in America. This is all happening because of climate change but most sad part is that our top leaders are not accepting it. This is one thing that scares me a lot. When I think of it I feel scared because I feel how you will fight the nature and there is no way out if we don’t start thinking and implementing proper plans for it”.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ made in 2013. The story revolves around Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar) who fall in love and plan to get married. But the twist in the tale comes when the groom discovers that he suffers from erectile dysfunction.
