Entire cast and crew of Gul Makai, a biopic on the noble prize winner Malala Yousafzai were present at the poster launch of the film on Friday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, filmmaker Amjad Khan stated that it’s extremely difficult to make a film on the life Malala Yousafzai.

Talking about the journey of the film, Amjad khan said, “The day Malala shot by bullet from Talibani’s from that day, I decided to make film on her life but it wasn’t easy at all. It’s very difficult task to make this film because it involves high octane action and deep emotions though writer of this film has really provided well researched material to me and through that, I am trying to depict issues of people located over there and political situation of that region”

“Talibani, when they were on their peak, attacked many children who used to study in those local schools so to carry all those things is difficult task and apart from that we are shooting this film in India, so we are getting difficulties to pick geographical nuances of that area as well but we are trying our best to match upto those standards”

“We have completed our first schedule of the film and now we are starting our second schedule in Bhuj which will involve lot of action and after that we will move to Manali and Mumbai to shoot remaining part of the film”

Reem Sameer Shaikh who is playing central character in the film said, “I am very nervous at the same time very excited to play character of international figure like Malala. I hope that I will be able to do justice to her character because she is not an ordinary girl; she is very brave and courageous girl who have set example for girls all around the world”

“To play her is her character is very difficult but I am glad that I got the opportunity to play her character as Amjad sir had auditioned so many girls for this role and our entire team is working on this project from last 3-4 years”

Talking about preparation she has done for the role, she said, “I have seen documentaries on her and lot of her YouTube videos and read about her life to know her body language and her mindset which I think help me to play her character. Apart from that, I am getting lot of support from our film’s director and other crew members as well”.

Gul Makai will demonstrate distinctive shades and reality of the extreme circumstances which Malala experienced while raising her voice for the girl education in Pakistan. She was shot on her school bus in Swat at the age of 15 after she was unmasked as the writer of an anonymous blog slating Taliban plans to deny girls education.
