Darshan Kumar who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, A Gentleman in an interview said, it will be hard for people to recognize him in the film.

“What I am most excited about the film is that it will be difficult for people to recognize me in my character – Yakuf. And I think it is a blessing for any actor that people don’t see you in your work. People are shocked when they find out that my characters in ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Sarbjit’ are played by the same person. Everyone will be able to see a similar surprise element in Yakuf.” Said Darshan on Thursday.

When asked about how Darshan became a part of the film and what kind of role he has, Darshan said “When I first heard the story in Fox’s office I was so excited for the movie, I knew instantly that this is something I want to do. My character in this film is different from all the characters I have played before. It’s a fully fledged commercial film which has lots of action, drama, and suspense. The first time you will see me doing a different kind of action. In this film, I got the chance to utilize kick boxing and martial arts that I have been learning since past 6 years. I had great fun while shooting for this film.”

Darshan also spoke about Fox’s strategy to keep him away from promotions. “When you watch the film you will realize that every time my character is on the screen, it will bring a new twist in the story. If now my part is revealed to the audience now, everyone will know what the film is about. I think that is why this strategy was taken up to keep me out of most of the promotions, or else it would have spoiled the fun.”

Darshan Kumar was first seen in ‘Tere Naam’ and rose to fame from his character in ‘Mary Kom’ as Priyanka Chopra’s husband.

The film’s story is based on a mistaken identity case where, Sunil Shetty (agonist) is looking for Rishi, the Risky one and finds Gaurav the Susheel gentleman.

A Gentleman: Sunder Susheel Risky directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK starring Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles and Sunil Shetty in a negative role is set to release on 25th August 2017
