Actress attended 4th season of Proud Father for Daughters initiative which supports Nanhi Kali: Girl Child Education, NGO for Education of Girls in India on Saturday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Sonakshi stated that today women are raising their voices.

When asked her whether today’s women are coming  forward for their rights, replying to that, Sonakshi said, “Today people are talking about it. There are ways where help is also available. I feel today girls are becoming more stronger when they see other girls who stands up for their own rights and justice so that really encourages them, even when we step in or come forward as actress or sports people and others who have media attention that boosts confidence of girls in much bigger manner so I feel women are raising their voices now for sure”.

When asked her whether 12% GST on sanitary pads should be imposed or not, to that, Sonakshi said, “It’s a basic need of every women and I feel that really needs to be taken into consideration and I feel it should be definitely tax-free.”

Talking about Nanhi Kali, Ngo at the event, Sonakshi said, “This cause is more special because unfortunately today we live in such place where still there is gender discrimination among girls and boys which is not at all correct. When girls are born in the family, then family members force her to sit at home out of their choice and they don’t even send them to school so I feel ‘Nanhi Kali’ is great cause which promotes and supports little girls who has desire to study but don’t have means to pursue their study. It’s a wonderful initiative. They are looking so happy by going into schools so I feel if we get even more girl come and be able to get educate themselves that will be wonderful. I am as celebrity is immensely happy to be small part of this initiative and I am looking forward to contribute towards this cause to best of my abilities”.

Sonakshi next will be seen with Sidharth Malhotra in thriller movie ‘Ittefaq’ which is remake of Rajesh Khanna and Nanda starrer Ittefaq which released in 1969.

Aprat from that, is all set to play central protagonist once again in ‘Circus’. The film marks the directorial debut of popular choreographer Bosco Martis and will also star Suniel Shetty as her father.
