Veteran actor Om Puri’s departure left the film fraternity and his fans in shock. But there is yet another chance to cherish and watch his acting skills in his last Mr. Kabaddi. The film is directed and written by his ex-wife Seema Kapoor which stars Om Puri along with other casts, Sarika, Vinay Pathak, Rajveer Singh, Kashish Vora and Brijendra Kala. Recently the cast was spotted in Delhi at PVR Plaza, CP for the promotions.
Well, present in the press conference two producers in the movie Anup Jalota and Om Chhangani, while interacting with media stated their own views regarding the same. On asking Om Chhangani regarding Late Om Puri’s work in the movie and about the movie, he said, “OmPuri Ji worked as a line producer and have a strong character in the movie. Yes! We don’t have stars in our movie, but we do have acting stars. The songs in the movie are really good, they have a ouch of classic and sufi as well.”
Anup Jalota on the producer note stated his own views and with appreciation, he said, “apart from me as a producer, the other producers have given their best for the movie.” Whereas Brijendra Kala shared about his character in the movie, he stated, “my character in the movie belongs to a Punjabi family, this story is about two different contrasting societies. I am really happy to be a part of this movie.”
Mr. Kabaddi is a satirical comedy fare set in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. The film revolves around a ‘Kabaadiwala’ or a scrap dealer who becomes rich and then flaunts his wealth to be like other millionaires. It also shows how he changes his wardrobe, trying a different accent and expanding his business. The film is Seema Kapoor’s directorial venture which is also her directorial debut.
In this satirical film, comedy will be seen arising when thoughts and emotions that lay hidden in the subconscious will be expressed consciously.
The film is slated to release on 4 August 2017
