Sahil Salathia, who turned a year older on 13th April this year, celebrated his birthday exploring the scenic places of South Africa.
The Indian supermodel-turned-actor, who made his acting debut with a lead role in Ashutosh Gowariker’s show Everest, went through a nightmare after two mafia gangs opened fire at the nightclub he was partying at. The incident took place during the early hours of April 17.
Sahil recollects, “I make it a point to visit a new place every birthday and this time around, I zeroed in on South Africa. However, while I was partying at Cafe Caprice, a posh club famous for its sundowners, two mafia gangs opened fire at each other, killing two tourists. Ironically, they were fighting over the club's security deal.”
He adds, “The music was loud and we suddenly heard gunshots. Considering the times we live in, I mistook it for a terror attack at first. Impressively, around 300 cops reached the club within seconds; I’ve never seen so many policemen at a time in my life. We were holed up in the club for an hour before being allowed to disperse. I was scared for my life and I am thankful to God that I came out of it unscathed. I feel bad for the two innocent people who lost their lives in the crossfire.”
“I was traumatised for a day, but then I had to keep going. I didn’t cut my trip short. This could have happened anywhere in the world. You can't stop living, no matter what happens around you. Life has its own plans, always,” concludes the actor.
Interestingly, every year on his birthday, Sahil visits a popular holiday destination alone. While last year he traveled to Hungary, this year he flew to Cape Town for a couple of days to bring in his special day.
The handsome actor who hails from a Rajput family in Jammu city also made a strong TV debut presence by P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke in 2016.
