Emraan Hashmi, who will essay the role of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin in Azhar, paid a visit to Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi to seek blessings ahead of the film’s release. The 37-year-old actor, who is in the capital to promote his upcoming film, was accompanied by Azharduddin to the dargah.
Directed by Tony DSouza, Azhar chronicles the life of Azharuddin, who was implicated in a cricket match-fixing scandal in 2000, and banned by BCCI for life. In 2012, however, the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the ban, describing it as “unsustainable”.
Emraan, who is playing the titular role, was mobbed by fans who gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite star, while the actor made his way inside the shrine to offer the chadar.
