Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has earned Rs 11.87 cr net on opening day in India (gross approx. Rs 16.96 cr). With the foreign take added the gross total rises to Rs 18.94 crore at the end of day 1. On Friday itself, reports had suggested that the film started on a good note with about 30% occupancy rate during morning shows. In fact, even in mass centres, Baaghi recorded good opening rates, which helped propel the film at the B.O. Baaghi marks Tiger Shroff’s reunion with director Sabbir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala – their previous success Heropanti managed to generate quite a bit of hype. Baaghi released in a total of 2,750 screens in India and 344 screens in the overseas markets.
This is Tiger Shroff’s second cinematic outing after Heropanti. Baaghi, which features Tiger Shroff sharing screen space with Shraddha Kapoor, has been in the news for its high octane action sequences and sizzling chemistry between the lead pair. Talking about the movie, Tiger Shroff, who is known for his dancing skills, confessed that his ‘Baaghi’ co-star Shraddha Kapoor made him anxious and says he was glad that they had “different steps”. “Shraddha is a fantastic dancer. After seeing ‘ABCD 2’ and her dance in ‘Sun sathiya’, I really admire her dancing skills,” Tiger said. “Our first schedule together was shooting of the song ‘Let’s talk about love’ for ‘Baaghi’ and when she came for the shoot, she was high on ‘Sun sathiya’. I got so nervous. Luckily, we had different steps. She has been winning all the dance competitions since childhood,” Tiger said in a statement.
However, despite the positive feedback coming in, Baaghi will face a bit of competition in Maharashtra from the new Marathi release Sairat which has managed to hold the audiences’ attention.
Baaghi first day box office collections: On the whole, with no other release and little competition from previous Bollywood releases, not even from Shahrukh Khan’s Fan, the business of Baaghi is expected to pick up considerably over evening and night shows. Aside from the Hollywood release, The Jungle Book, which rocked the box office charts well into its third weekend, Baaghi is expected to have an unopposed run at the box office.
